Species: Hybrid Saiyan/Human
Alias: Tarry
Species: Hybrid Saiyan/Human
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance:
Tariph stands at a mere 5'2, with a lithe, athletically built frame. Her black hair grows past her shoulders with bangs that hang just above her dark-green, near-black eyes; her ears peeking out behind the curtain of hair. Her skin is pale, her hands worn rough from training to the point where they've developed calluses, and her brown tail always swaying proudly on display behind her back. You'll never see Tariph without some variation of a grin on her face; no matter what the situation, managing to carry an air of mischief and polite amusement towards everything. A mixture of pride and condescension manages to help Tariph keep her cool and superior ground towards pure blood humans, she manages a strange command for respect that brings about a variety of intimidated responses.
Tariph is usually seen in a dark purple vest, indigo-purple weights underneath acting as a flexible shirt with sleeves reaching her elbows, baggy greyish-blue pants, weighted black shoes that reach up to her calf with matching fingerless gloves, and a red sleeve on the upper half of her tail colored red, also weighted. She almost always has a sliver-wooden staff in her hands.

Background:
True to their race, Tariph's father took the path of "Hands-Off" child-rearing shortly after the half blood's conception. As far as she knows, at least; he may have simply taken off after the girl was born. He was the type of warrior that would rather raise another male line than support a female one. But, she doesn't know a thing about him aside from that she was given the name he wanted, or may have even been given a variation of a name based off his. She's not sure. Though, she never honestly cared. Another person she doesn't waste precious brain cells by giving thought to is her mother, another person who took the Hands Off technique as well, though she waited until Tariph turned a year old before abandoning the infant in a box off the side of a desolate highway with nothing but a note and a blanket. Who knows why, well it can be guessed why the woman would abandon a half-Saiyan child, but why near the road is something no one thinks too much about.
Luckily Tariph was found and taken in that same day by a lone Anatomist, Kenkyusha. Of course by then the blanket had been ripped to ribbons by the frustrated infant and Kenky was covered in bruises by the time she managed to calm Tariph down to read the note but they both made it to the woman's home in relatively one piece, despite the infant nearly making Kenky crash into an oncoming 8 wheeler. After the child was partially cleaned, fed, cleaned again, and finally put to bed, there was only the problem of figuring out what to do with her. The following talk with her mixed-martial artist husband, Sentoki, was akin to arguing the pros and cons of keeping and raising a wolf pup. In the end they managed to convince themselves that keeping her was for the best; it was, after all, the more decent thing to do in this situation. Not that they didn't seem to regret that decision from time to time, but there were more moments of being glad they kept her.
During the years that followed Tariph was treated as much as a dangerous anomaly as she was a daughter. Kenkyusha found that the information available on half-breed children were... minimal, at best. At least what was allowed for the public eye. So it seemed she couldn't resist treating the young girl as a personal research project; copying down her behavior, learning ability, and physical abilities, then comparing it to the information on human children and finding what would work best for curbing her naturally aggressive behaviors and prevent any incidents from spring up when they let her interact with other children. Or, to be more accurate, when she snuck out of the house and interacted with other children.
Sentoki, on the other hand, took a more natural approach, simply spending time with Tariph and weaning certain ideals into her as she grew. That combination seemed to balance itself and showed when the half-breed began choosing cunning over screaming and intimidation over fighting. Whether this was for better or worse is up to debate, but it allowed her to interact with other kids around her age without more incident than to be expected for her age. But, as she continued to grow, her instinct to get stronger and fight couldn't be suppressed, and in the end Kenkyusha decided it would be in everyone's best interest if Tariph trained with her husband instead of waiting for the girl's aggression to be taken out on other people.
The man was quick to embrace his new training partner though he wasn't sure how strict to be on such a small child, human or not. In the end, he seemed to take her training less seriously than his own and went easy on her in their sparring matches to focus more on teaching techniques than aiming to win. One of the first things they worked on was her tail, though it was a handy weakness to exploit whenever Tariph threw a temper tantrum, he and Kenky decided they were far enough past that stage where they should be more worried about what others would do with that weakness. It had taken a long time to train Tariph to the point where she wouldn't collapse from a grab or squeeze, longer still for her to be able to move when her tail was in a hard, almost painful grip. But before then, even her tail training wasn't very intense. Not until one particular sparring match that ended with Tariph's well-aimed kick sending Sentoki flying through a wall. Since then her adoptive father intensified her training, though focused more on teaching her how to use her smaller size and build to its advantage, rather than focus completely on brute strength.
Tariph did go through a traditional education, much to Kenky's disapproval. She felt that their adopted daughter was still too young to be around human children without their supervision. Even with her aggression in check, there was no guarantee she wouldn't lash out like children do when being teased or taunted by their peers. Sentoki countered with the fact that she'd never learn how to deal with those situations if she was always under their constant supervision, which could make a situation like that much worse once she's older. Unable to argue with that logic, Tariph was allowed to go to school so long as she promised she wouldn't start any fights. Not that the girl would ever admit it, she was a little hurt they didn't trust with her temper.
True to her word, she never did start a fight since starting school... but that didn't stop her from joining fights. Which she did the first time one broke out during recess. Her adoptive parents weren't amused by that logic, nor were the parents of the other two children. Her pride never hurt so much after having so many people look at her like she was less than nothing, even though she didn't do anything worse than the other two kids. What made it all worse was the pity and Sentoki and Kenky's eyes while trying not to look at the other adults. All of that and lack of punishment nearly destroyed her, she couldn't take that pity, or being looked at like a filth covered rat, and the fear in other student's eyes when they saw her just served as a reminder of what the adults saw her as.
From then on she kept herself out of trouble as much as she could. Not that she didn't keep from fighting, she just did it where others wouldn't see and with people who seemed to have something to prove. She refused to lower her head low just to keep other people from seeing her as a target, as far as she was concerned no human should feel superior to her without a reason. Tariph always kept her head up, looking people in the eye and challenging their distrust with condescending amusement. Her movements translated her confidence, becoming intimidating in such a precise way it triggered some and made others keep their own eyes toward the ground. That was a strength she learned and nurtured that had nothing to do with fighting and one she intended to continue improving on.
As the years continued to pass by, sparring with Sentoki and petty ally fights lost a lot of their old challenge; not that they weren't still tough but it wasn't much more than she had grown accustomed to. Well, except when things got dirty. But it just wasn't what she was looking for. She took to wandering, baselessly and aimlessly, sometimes spending the night outside before returning home. Once she discovered the forest she seemed to fall in love with it. Not that she was much of a nature person, but she found surviving alone and with constant dangers the type of challenge she was looking for. She was able to take out her aggression on predators that wanted her blood instead of transitioning it to a less violent alternative. Natural survival called and she answered with a howl, staying for days, sometimes weeks, before returning to her home. As worried as her adoptive parents get, there's not much they could do against her frequent disappearances.
