In the sunny city of South Capitol, a rather unimaginatively named capitol in the south, life was fairly usual. However, a few people were staring at the rather strange looking plant person who was staring in turn at a pair of rather famous gates. Before the Bio-Android stood the gates of the illustrious Tenkaichi Budōkai, the tournament that had, for centuries, chosen "The strongest under the heavens." Although apparently, that was due to some confusion over the World Martial Arts Tournaments' official name. Cracking his knuckles a bit, Walker rubbed his chin thoughtfully. It was unclear how accurate the title of the winner was, as it would depend on whether a strong person participated, and in some cases, sheer luck. Still, his heartwood thrilled at the idea. The legends of Earth, Majin, Human, Saiyan, and the aliens who had immigrated there, locked in combat to determine who among them was the greatest. He was eager for the next one to start, since there was a rule against killing. The chance to fight some of the incredible warriors he had encountered, especially without fear of death, was far too tempting to pass up .
While he was unaware of it, he had attracted some attention himself. A large, dark-hued man made from wood, and wearing a cross between a purple priestly robes from some mystical civilization, and a more knightly version of Majin Berserker armor? That would stand out no matter where he had gone. Not that the slightly oblivious tree had picked up on this in the slightest.

South Capitol was peaceful enough. People flitted through the streets, doing their daily business. Nestled within the city was the famous Tenkachi Budokai. It was a centuries-old martial arts tournament and it was held yearly to determine the strongest fighter on Earth. Beryl had heard of it and he had a mind to participate in the upcoming one. However, he had been having second thoughts. All of his recent spars with others ended in crushing defeat which some of them almost ending in his untimely demise. Witnessing strength was one thing but being on the receiving end of an absolute beatdown was nothing sort of utterly demoralizing. At this point, Beryl questioned: what was the point of even signing up if he was only going to end up getting trashed by the competition?
As he passed by the gates of the acclaimed tournament, Beryl sighed and shook his head. No, he had to stop thinking like that. If he kept putting himself down then he would never improve and that alone meant that his goals would be unreachable and unobtainable. “I need something to relax.” Alcohol wasn’t an option; he hated that stuff. As he continued to ponder, a large, hulking figure demanded his attention. He looked up and was immediately shocked with what he saw. It looked like a giant, living humanoid tree decked out in a mix between a knight’s armor and a priest’s robes. It stood in front of the gates to the Tenkachi Budokai, seemingly interested in the structure. People around were staring at the mysterious being, unsure of what to make of the thing. “What in the world?” Now, there were some strange things out there in the universe however Beryl had never seen anything like this before. At first, he was quick to assume that the guy was some kind of alien from the outer reach but he was quick to retract his assumption. What kind of aliens looked like that?
His mouth thinned. The being didn’t appear to be hostile but Beryl knew that you could never know for sure. One moment, the two of them could be talking and having a nice conversation. The next, this thing could be trying to eat him for all he knew. Cautiously, the twenty-three year old strolled up towards the armored bio-android, hands nestled within his hoodie’s front pocket. “… You need help with anything?” he offered politely. Since the stranger was so freaking tall, Beryl had to look straight up in order to get a good luck at their face. It was anything but human with too many eyes and the perceived absence of a mouth. His dark-brown eyes flickered towards the tournament’s gates. “If you’re wondering about the tournament, it doesn’t start for a little while longer,” he informed. “But at least now you can use this time to prepare yourself.” His gaze shifted back towards the plant-like giant. “Is that what you’re thinking about right now?”
OOC -- Very, very sorry for the long wait. :C

Walker turned, finding himself addressed by another human. It took a bit for him to pull the face from the crowd, and determine who had spoken, but he discerned Beryl eventually. "Oh, hello there. Yes, I am considering the tournament, however, I doubt I can reach the heights required by the time it starts." It sounded fatalistic, but he was thinking of Vipoi, or Reikiko, or any of the other titans whose Powerlevel was over a million at full strength. It was simply ridiculous to think he'd surpass them. Still.. the idea of fighting among the strongest on Earth was a thrilling thought.
Sitting down, the tree turned to face the small human who had approached it. Now that he was seated, his head was more on-level with the person, who was a... Thinking about it for a moment, the tree settled on Male. "I am Walker." Cocking his head to the side for a moment, he frowned. "I really should select a last name, but I'm told that's the Family Name." Spreading his arms wide, the crowd nearby, who was wary, but not quite avoiding, backed away a bit. It was not odd to see bizarre aliens or fighters, especially here. However, the tree was still a bit of a new sight to most people, if only for his unusual size. The plant aspect was a bit of a new one as well, plant-creatures being an uncommon sight at best. Gesturing around, he chuckled. "It's quite amazing, isn't it. This world has produced such incredible things. They can even make life."
Smiling, a friendly if slightly unsettling sight, the tree extended one hand in a shaking gesture. "Who might you be? If you know of the Tenkaichi Budokai, could you be a martial artist as well?" Tapping the shoulder of his odd, almost clerical outfit, he indicated the symbol on it. The symbol, for those that understood the script, declared a single word. Kami, or in simpler terms, God. "I'm merely a student myself, although I suppose I have surpassed Scargot in strength. Still, he isn't God for nothing. He taught me a few things that are quite handy." Closing his mouth, his next sentence was heard only by the boy in front of him, entirely mentally. "Like this, for instance. Quite intriguing, isn't it?" It would probably have benefited the cheerful bio-android if someone explained the term "Chatterbox" to him, as it ruined his polite affections to have them spoken as part of such an auditory info-dump. Still, he came across as friendly enough, in most cases.

A nearly overwhelming feeling of anxiety swept over Beryl as the nine foot tall titan looked down at him. He got a better look of the bio-android’s face then, and there was absolutely nothing about it. It looked like a tree with a face, an extremely scary tree. Then, the thing spoke. The fact that he (Beryl assumed that it was a male judging from the sound of their voice) was able to speak caught the researcher off guard. Beryl jumped slightly, blinking several times as he pieced the creature’s words together. So, they were interested in the Tenkachi Budokai tournament? That was actually something Beryl didn’t expect, other than the fact that he would actually run into a talking tree in the first place. “What makes you believe that you won’t be prepared? You won’t know until you try. Besides, you might even surprise yourself with how much you improve.” Was he actually having a conversation with a humanoid tree? Passing civilians were giving the two weird, baffled looks; it wasn’t every day that two fighters conversed in broad daylight, especially ones that were nearly different in every way possible appearance wise.
As the bio-android lowered down to a seated position, Beryl remained still. At least now he wouldn’t have to crane his head directly upwards in order to look Walker in the eyes. Even so, Walker was still noticeably taller than Beryl but that was to be expected. “Walker?” Beryl repeated as the organic creation introduced himself. He talked further, explaining that the world was quite an interesting place, especially if it was able to give life to something like him. That was something that Beryl could whole-heartedly agree with and he displayed such with a solid, single nod. With a frightening smile and an extended, tree-like hand, Walker asked who the dark-skinned human before him was. Frowning slightly, Beryl looked at the humanoid plant’s hand before looking back up at Walker’s face. “… My name’s Beryl Roarke,” he finally said, clasping the hand with one of his own for a firm handshake. “… And I am a martial artist, yes.” Since Walker was one as well, Beryl didn’t see the harm at revealing that piece of information. It was something that he usually kept to himself and he was very cognizant of not using his hidden abilities willy-nilly. “I see martial arts and ki more from a scientific perspective if that makes sense,” Beryl added, his dark-brown eyes zeroing in on the symbol branded on the bio-android’s outfit. He recognized the symbol instantly.
“You were trained by Kami?” the twenty-three year old whispered, slightly shocked. That wasn’t something you heard every day. Not only that, but this “Walker” claimed that he had surpassed even God in strength. That was a scary thought. A nine foot tall walking tree whose power was greater than Kami’s? Now, Beryl wasn’t sure on what to think about Walker. So far, the guy seemed friendly enough but first impressions weren’t enough to determine how a person truly was. Beryl was so busy thinking and pondering that once Walker’s voice echoed within his mind, he nearly had a heart attack. He jumped in place and his head swiveled left and right. Where the hell did that come from? His eyes then settled on the bio-android in front of him. “What did you just do?” he asked, dark-brown eyes narrowing. “… You can use telepathy?” It wasn’t a skill that was unheard of but it was one that Beryl didn’t have much exposure to. “… I guess it’s interesting; it would’ve been good to have a warning first though,” the young male said, passing the bio-android an unamused, jealous look. To be fair, that whole telepathy act did freak him out.
“When it comes to martial arts, I’m completely self-taught,” Beryl started, slowly but surely calming down. “You could still consider me a beginner though I’m told that I’m much stronger than the average human … I’m not sure how much weight is behind that statement but … you know.” After all, humans weren’t particularly known for their physical strength. “With that said, you are most likely much, much more prepared than I am for this tournament. At the level I’m at, I wouldn’t even bother signing up; you have a decent shot at winning at least.”

As Beryl voiced his objections to the sudden mental intrusion, the tree made a rather odd face. His cheeks swelled, (Somehow) and his eyes managed to convey the sense of looking away, despite not having proper pupils. Tapping his fingers together completed the image of an embarrassed tree. Many people around the pair would go home that day, staring straight ahead with a slightly confused expression on their face, prompting loved ones to ask what was the matter. The responses launched a slang phrase in the city. For years afterward, the phrase "Pouting Chibi-Face Tree" was a slang for something so god damn unexpected that nobody even considered they would encounter it that morning. In the present, however, Walker was merely worried he had offended the man. However, upon hearing his assurances, the Bio-droid frowned.
Leaning his head to one side, and resting it in his palm, he raised a finger and pointed upwards. "I have a good chance of winning? Not unless I tripled my growth rate, at the very least. I've been training my entire life, and have only reached the point I am now, a mere 53,000 Power Level. About three times that if I go full power." Leaning back, his hands hit the pavement, and he stared at the young man with an odd expression. "I'm a lot stronger than a normal human, true. If situations were otherwise, I would be excited by this. However..." Pointing off into the distance, he indicated the surrounding city, and the lands beyond. "Out there are people who eclipse my full strength by an order of magnitude, at minimum."
He chuckled ruefully, but after a moment, he stopped, and the shaking of his shoulders continued. The tree was literally shaking with fear as he remembered the sight he had seen on Kami's Lookout. "I'm one of Kami's students, as I said. His adoptive daughter, however, is not. There's a good reason for that. A single one of her techniques, even vaguely serious, could kill the both of us in an instant. Her power is absolutely terrifying to behold, and it's likely to increase exponentially still, if what I understand is correct." Rei had mentioned that she wanted to become "Perfect" and she was Semi-Perfect now. He had done some asking around, and discovered that apparently, when a Bio hit a certain threshold, they would select an appropriate prey and steal their power, evolving to a new form. This occurred twice, if what Rei said was any indication.
Staring at Beryl, he gestured to the tournament grounds. "She's not the only one, either. There are multiple Saiyans with insane power. I believe they're called Super Saiyans. If I fought them, I would lose outright. Administrator Azure, head of the Blue Banner Army, and there are others that I've heard mention of, but not seen myself. Yet, even so, I have the ability to equal them, if I wanted." His gaze returned to the researcher. "All I would need to do is eat someone, using their genetic makeup to evolve into a new, more deadly creature." Walker paused, then shook his head. "I'm sorry, that was rude. I just began ranting about my own insecurity. I suppose that if I trained for another two months, my power level would double, if I kept with my current pace. That's not something to complain about, to be sure."
