He kept low to the ground, creeping along on all fours as he focused his gaze on his target. It had made itself rather difficult prey thus far; it was quick on its feet, and its ears were sensitive. It knew the jungle far better than he did, as he'd learned after trying and failing to simply chase it down several times already. The hunt had drawn on for over an hour now, and his stomach was growing increasingly turbulent as his hunger went unsatisfied. He had considered the option of simply abandoning the chase and moving on to a more agreeable target--perhaps a wild boar or a bull--but he'd pushed the thought aside several times. He wasn't about to admit that he'd been defeated be a mere animal. No, Kashū was hungry for nothing but leopard meat now, and he wasn't going to give up until he'd had his fill.
The tiger was crouched before a lake, drinking blissfully while he approached from behind. The wind was blowing his way, he noted, so the beast wasn't going to detect his scent when it was distracted. As long as he could keep silent and keep out of sight, he would go unnoticed. An upturned stone became his perch as he climbed upon it to get some height on the great predator. It was fast, but if he pounced on it from above, it wouldn't get a chance to put that speed to work. He drew back and prepared to make his move, but in the brief moment before he leaped, a loud crack drew the attention of predator and prey toward the east. Kashū was distracted, and the leopard was startled. It abandoned its rest and darted into the brush. Its tail was the last of it that the Saiyan saw.
"Graaah!" Kashū shouted, cracking his stone perch with a punch. He whipped about to face the direction of the sound's origin. "Who's there?! Who couldn't keep away for five blasted seconds?!" He wasn't sure if the intruder was actually sentient, but he defaulted to "who" to stave off the notion of madness. He hoped for an animal, though, something he could kill without fear of repercussions against the Saiyan Solar Empire. He wouldn't eat it, of course (well, perhaps just a bite...). He was going to make a meal of that leopard before the end of the day, but he was going to have to get back to tracking it after he'd handled whatever interloper had dared to impede his efforts to take it down.

“And here I thought I had found a planet that bred warriors. Tch!” groaned Sorrel as his eyes scanned the land below him. His complaint was actually in reference to the disgraceful portions of food that Earthlings called a 'meal.' Four restaurants in a row and all Sorrel could find were dishes regarded as even less than snacks on Vegeta. How could they possible nurture powerful fighters if they weren't eating properly? As the young Saiyan departed from the fourth restaurant he had looked into, he decided that he would have to resort to other measures. Clearly, if he wanted a sizable meal, he would have to obtain it the old fashioned way. It would only take a few minutes of flight for him to find something relatively close to what he was looking for in the form of a forest. During his missions of conquest for the Saiyan Solar Empire, one thing he had learned was that life seemed more abundant wherever agriculture was abundant. In other words, the presence of trees surely hinted to the presence of animals. Therefore a forest would certainly be a good location for him to find his dinner. His only concern was whether or not Earth creatures were poisonous to eat. Then again, he would rather die full than starving!
Once he was above the canopy of the forest Sorrel was surprised to find food already, though not quite the meal he had expected. He was ready to chow down on some animal's flesh, but he had stumbled across a nest filled with eggs. As he got closer to the nest, he began to realize that the eggs were almost as big as him! He arched a brow, a sudden bad feeling coming upon him as he realized it meant a large parent. The hot breathe beating down his back confirmed his suspicions as Sorrel turned to face a large dinosaur of the winged variety. A smirk crept onto his face as he found it to be much more appetizing than its eggs. Sorrel would throw a light punch, sending the avian down a bit. He would then continue pounding at it gently, causing it to descend through the bamboo and cause the stalks to crack loudly. He hadn't even heard Kashū's call by the time he was finally finished "tenderizing" his meal, mounting the bird with a fist drawn back and ready to strike.
“Huh?” he questioned, finally noticing the red-haired Saiyan. Suddenly he forgot his hunger and jumped off of the bird, hovering over to Kashū while looking him up and down. “I don't believe it! The Red Lion of the Empire! Here on Earth!”

"So, it was you!" Kashū quickly exclaimed, briefly ignoring the details of the situation for the fact that he now had a target for his rage. He stormed toward the interloper with intent to get physical in a hurry, but he stayed his hand when he finally registered the greeting he'd received. His title? To the best of his knowledge, it was not widely known outside of the Empire and those worlds under its sway. And then, he saw the tail, and it all made that much more sense. "Saiyan," he muttered. So, others had been sent already. That meant his dear cousin couldn't be far behind, if he hadn't arrived already.
"I never thought I would run into another Saiyan out here, of all places. Shouldn't you be attending to the so-called king?" Kashū quirked an eyebrow. "Or did you come independent of the official delegation?" He'd done the same, obviously, which fortunately hadn't prevented him from getting registered for the forthcoming tournament with a few well-conceived half-truths. There was no dishonor in it; he was without a doubt among the greatest that the Empire had to offer, so if the tournament was meant to pit the most powerful warriors of every government against one another, it would be a travesty to exclude him. If this Saiyan was here, he was either quite powerful himself or merely thought himself so. Either way, that made him interesting.

“Huh? ...What was it.. that.. I was?” he questioned in response, though he sounded quite unsure how to ask. He scratched his head, wondering if he had managed to get into some trouble without even having been on the Earth for more than a week. It was then that Kashū's words brought a realization to Sorrel. He had never actually done any formal report or request to get sent to Earth. He had gotten so excited over the possibility of participating in a tournament with elites and other strong beings from around the world that he had gotten ahead of himself and just departed to Earth immediately. But he hadn't completely forgotten his misdeed and had actually thought of an excuse while getting himself through customs, admittedly late since he neither landed in the proper region nor was he even aware of such protocols until he tried to buy food with Vegetan currency.
“Oh yeah, that... Aha... Well, honestly, I kinda forgot the protocol for leaving Vegeta outside of a mission since that's all I've done all my life... I also kinda didn't want to wait on the paperwork and risk missing the tournament with the whole change of ruler thing going on.” In spite of his harsh childhood on Vegeta, Sorrel was still a child at heart and when it came to things that excited him he tended to let his body run far ahead of his mind. There was also no need to mention that the last part he sort of just threw on to cover his ass.

"Is that so?" Kashū crossed his arms and took a good look at his fellow Saiyan. The stranger wasn't familiar and seemed somewhat excitable, but his attitude was otherwise befitting of a Saiyan; the bureaucracy involved in arriving on Earth "properly" had proved rather tiring. Kashū would have skipped it himself if it had suited him to do so, but it was important to him that the challenge to his cousin be as official as possible. One couldn't ask for a more official sanction than that granted by the entire collection of intergalactic empires, so he'd taken the time to go through all of the proper channels to secure himself a spot in the tournament. Presumably, this Saiyan had signed up without as much fuss. Perhaps Kashū had miscalculated the amount of effort it took to earn a spot?
"You'll hear no admonishment from me," spoke the Red Lion. "I find the amount of pomp and circumstance the Earthlings devote to a gathering of warriors rather tiring. It serves to indicate just how infrequently they test themselves." He turned away and sniffed the air. The leopard hadn't gone too far. He wasn't sure whether he still wanted to pursue it at this point, though; hungry as he was, there were other needs of his that had gone longer without satisfaction. "You came upon me in the middle of a hunt, and your interference cost me my quarry. That, I think, is an offense more worry of punishment than your illicit arrival on this planet."

The Red Lion's response induced a grin on Sorrel's face, though it was no surprise to him. After all, if there was one thing a Saiyan respected it was another person's desire to fight. Besides that, it didn't seem like Kashū had anything to gain from ruining Sorrel's chances of participating in the tournament. It even seemed as though they shared the same views on Earthling traditions, as Sorrel found their practices incommodious for those that wished to groom and test themselves in battle. Even if you overlooked the tedium of their tournaments, their eating practices were just unfitting!
“Yeah, Earthlings are strange. I don't quite understand how they can look so much like us on the outside but function so differently on the inside. I mean, have you tried having a sizable meal here? A snack to any Saiyan's standards, I tell ya!” Sorrel shook his head in an exaggerated display of despondency after he spoke, almost as if personally offended by such poor nutrition habits. He would have continued ranting had Kashū not mentioned Sorrel's transgression. As childlike as he could be, Sorrel wasn't too bad at putting things together.
“Aha, so that's what I did! Well...,” he began as he looked back to the dinobird he had beaten tender. His eyes then darted back to Kashū as a smirk formed on his visage. Sorrel didn't quite believe Kashū would be satisfied if the dinobird were just handed to him in place of his original quarry. “I think it's obvious how this is to be settled! If you defeat me, then my catch is all yours.”

"Weakness runs in their blood, it seems," Kashū observed. "Their sterile dwellings do them no favors." There were cities on Vegeta, but very few were so garish as those that Earthlings seemed to consider the norm. The ideal Saiyan was raised in an environment not too unlike pure wilderness: there could be technology for training and technology for healing, but other luxuries were left for the weaklings. Kashū's family (save his late aunt, the queen) did not even allow themselves armor, and they were stronger for it; the suffered more wounds, but wounds survived were the greatest boons a Saiyan could know. Even now, the Red Lion bore a few trophies from a prolonged scuffle with the last wild beasts he'd chosen to make a meal of, and they still caused him some pain.
But, when the challenge came from his fellow Saiyan, his face lit up with sadistic anticipation.
"You took the words right out of my mouth," spoke Kashū, unfolding his arms and widening his stance. He held his hands aloft--one before his chest, the other at his waist--and it quickly became clear that he did not intend to speak much further. The dinosaurs had given him more than a little trouble, perhaps, but he was still more than eager to face another of his own kind in a real battle. It was not the practice of a true Saiyan to let yesterday's wounds forestall today's challenge. He would collect as many injuries as he could, and through each, he would unlock yet greater power.
"Before we begin," he said as he moved in circles while facing his enemy, "I would know my opponent's name." It was clear that Kashū's reputation had preceded him, but he was in the dark as to who this Saiyan was. That would not do. If the Saiyan was strong, Kashū would need his name to praise him. If he proved a weakling, Kashū would need his name to mock him. Whatever the case might be, the Red Lion waited only as long as it took his opponent to identify himself, then initiated hostilities by first testing the enemy's defenses with a simple, yet swift kick aimed to strike the ribs of his left side.

( OOC: Reeeeally sorry for the late post. Life's been pretty hectic this past week @__@ )
After putting the deal on the table, Sorrel crossed his arms. His eyes looked to Kashū eagerly in anticipation of acceptance, as a proposal of a fight with or without a reward was an offer that any Saiyan could not refuse. The excitement continued to build up as the red-haired Saiyan even assumed what could only be interpreted as a fighting stance. If anything, Sorrel was more excited that he would get to test himself against what he assumed to be a disciplined fighter. And even if not that, he liked the opportunity to go against a Saiyan that was most likely more refined than himself.
“My name is Sorrel--,” he responded in a leisurely manner, only to find his opponent charging at him as soon as his own name left his mouth. This became the second mental note in Sorrel's head. Whether it was because he was restless or relentless was yet to be determined, but Sorrel understood that he could not expect any hesitation from his opponent. In sheer reflex, Sorrel unfolded his arms while pivoting his body counterclockwise to parry the strike. However, amidst the motion, a bit of creativity compelled him to to bring down his left elbow while raising his left knee in an attempt to clamp the offending leg between his two limbs. Normally he would try to apply enough force to crack bones, but he intended to drag out the sparring session as long as he could.
From there, should his trap have succeeded, his right fist would shoot forward in the form of a normal punch. The strike was aimed at his opponent's side since Sorrel didn't think he would have enough time to search for a vulnerable spot before receiving a reaction. Much like Kashū's own initial strike, it was Sorrel's way of testing his opponent's defenses.

(OOC: These things happen =) .)
His rapidly-approaching foot promised to punish the ribs of its target with its strike, but he found it rebuffed by a rather clever counterattack that had Kashū impressed. It took incredible timing and reflexes to catch a kick in the specific manner that this "Sorrel" had chosen, and he seemed to perform the task with nearly casual ease. But he had chosen to stop short of actually damaging the bone--and Kashū knew that he could have, for his counter concentrated two strong opposing forces on one specific spot. He wondered whether Sorrel had held back out of some sort of misguided kindness or because he thought that a broken bone would be enough to make Kashū bow out of the challenge. If the former, he was a fool. If the latter, he was just wrong. Either way, he would have to be punished.
Sorrel followed up with an offensive, aiming a punch to strike his would-be captive. It was a simple attack to follow the simple attack that had been countered before it, but surely a less than ideal choice; throwing a punch while balancing on one foot against the weight of another was not an easy matter. Kashū exacerbated the situation by suddenly applying downward pressure with the foot still caught between his opponent's limbs in an effort to pull him off balance and throw his punch off course while simultaneously drawing him forward. The outcome of this shift would end painfully for Sorrel if it achieved its intended end; Kashū quickly raised his his left elbow to the position where his fellow Saiyan's face would end up if he didn't manage to regain his balance in time to somehow escape that outcome.

In the awkward shift Sorrel found himself brought out of his own tempo. It was an interesting maneuver, and it let the young Saiyan know that his opponent might just be more skilled at close quarter combat. Of course, that only translated as more fun in Sorrel's mind. Instead of allowing himself to be completely thrown off, he would take advantage of his own arm's extension.
It was a complex maneuver, but Sorrel would open his fist into an open hand for a palm strike. His attempt would be to deliver a palm strike to his opponent's chest, hoping to push him down into the ground, only to find that his body's proportions would fail him. The other Saiyan was taller with longer limbs, so once the initial punch was thrown off course, Sorrel was destined to miss. As he noticed this, he quickly gathered energy within his palm. He would indeed catch a face full of elbow, but he would not leave his opponent without a parting gift.
From Sorrel's palm would discharge an energy blast as he simultaneously separated his own elbow and knee from being clamped around Kashū's leg. His only real hope at that point was to blow them apart so that he could get some space to recover.

The joy of success was quickly denied expression as the laugh that formed in Kashū's gut morphed into an agitated cry before escaping him. It all happened exceedingly fast: his elbow slammed into his opponent's face, a last-ditch attack aimed to strike his torso went wide, the hand that was meant to strike him became a hand that fired upon him with a burst of ki. The impact forced him apart from his enemy, freeing his leg and preserving Sorrel from a follow-up attack. A thin cloud of smoke slowly wafted off of the singed area of the Red Lion's flesh, and he gripped his side with one hand in an effort to push back the pain. It was an admirable move, perhaps, and a smart one; there were few who could stand up to him in a prolonged physical confrontation. Alas, it would always come back to that unless Sorrel had much more powerful ki attacks than that in his arsenal.
"Not bad. Not bad at all," Kashū acknowledged, his grimace twisting itself into a shady smirk. "Now that we each know the other is serious, I guess we can take the kid gloves off, eh? After all, no Saiyan ever got anywhere by avoiding pain!" He resumed his previous fighting stance, but abandoned it quickly, firing up his brilliant red aura and rushing full-tilt at his opponent. Both of his fists were drawn back as he charged so as to help him maintain some element of surprise. When finally he neared his opponent, he opted to launch both of his fists, though one punch fell slightly behind the other. His right fist targeted Sorrel's left shoulder, and his left targeted the right side of Sorrel's abdomen.
It was an attack that carried both the force of his muscles and the momentum of his charge, a powerful assault that held but one drawback: Kashū found it difficult not to telegraph the outcome. He hoped that the speed of his charge would give him an edge and catch Sorrel off guard, but if that failed, he would simply have to adapt to handle the countermeasure that was sure to follow.
