Shall we allow zeni to be transferred as well as PL?
Vote by the 29th.

My vote is none at all. Humans gain zeni faster so already we have a problem with potential cash cow characters, not to mention some zeni is handed out for free. The zeni grind to get your weights (if you are doing it right ) is really the only time you are gonna be relatively meager, it creates a sense of low level play. A transfer as little as 3,500z is honestly more powerful in the long run then the 20,000 cap if you math it out.

I think zeni should be transferable, and here are my reasons. Say, for example, you have a character that transfers half of his threads into zeni and the other half into PL, and he saves up his Zeni, for, say, a Dojo. Let's say he now has 10,000PL and 10,000z. If they transfer, that's wasting HALF of his earned grade!

This is a 'no' from me as well.

Why so many 'no's? There is no actual proper reason for it. They have earned zeni, and it should not be wasted.

Transfer should remain as PL.
Humans have the boost in Zeni, thus rendering them as cows that expel sweet, milky streams of money. Thus making them a potential piggy bank.
Frankly, that works on any character.

Also, we're not trying to encourage people to switch characters. They really shouldn't be entitled to EVERYTHING they worked for as a previous character. A PL boost of up to 20k should be substantial. It's still a new character that they're nearly starting from scratch, after all.

Frankly, that works on any character. Yes, however the zeni and PL aren't exactly being transferred. The graded stuff is, basically meaning what you'd get without weights or affects. Also, we're not trying to encourage people to switch characters. They really shouldn't be entitled to EVERYTHING they worked for as a previous character. A PL boost of up to 20k should be substantial. It's still a new character that they're nearly starting from scratch, after all. However, items are not being carried over, only PL and Zeni. That's it.

So what if items aren't being carried over? You're still supposed to be playing as a NEW character. That's the whole point. It actually doesn't have much of a bearing at all on my reasoning. Also, we're not trying to encourage people to switch characters. They really shouldn't be entitled to EVERYTHING they worked for as a previous character. A PL boost of up to 20k should be substantial. It's still a new character that they're nearly starting from scratch, after all. If you want to keep your stuff, don't drop the character. Otherwise, just take the PL transfer.

I never said they should be. I'm simply stating that it'd be unfair to remove the zeni that they had earned simply because of a mistake! If they employed the logic you're trying to enforce in the real world, the government would instantly strip you off all cash you had and items you owned but leave you with your skills if you moved house, and that's just silly.

Except the real world doesn't really enter into it. If you want to bring that in, it would be more an equivalent to dying and coming back with an entirely new identity, not simply moving from one house to another. If anything, it's the analogy that's silly.
And besides, as far as I know it has NEVER been promised that one could carry over Zeni from one character to another, only PL. Once you decide you aren't going to play a character anymore, you lose that Zeni. You're the one choosing to remove it by dropping the character.

I've noted somewhere before that in response to this one there are decent arguments for and against both.
I think perhaps a prominent factor here is that enhanced gains (from weights or gravity) are actually transferred(it would require a lot of work to reverse-grade them out of your cumulative lifetime earned pl so it's simply not worth the effort), so you could argue the zeni has already benefited you across the exchange. By the same token both Wyntre and Nai's points stand on their own merits.
*shrug* Either-or really, I don't have a particular preference one way or the other I feel.

Definite 'no' from me. I'm against transfers in general, and the same argument goes for both from me personally: it is your choice to drop a character, you're never forced to do so. If you drop a character, you agree with discarding them and starting fresh.
