Being from another universe and all got tiring sometimes. That or all the work Chai had to swat down with Vi doing whatever he was doing. He stopped the Bamboo Forest from being destroyed, he stopped Collan's mother from being killed, he stopped Cloud after he murdered a guy, and even talked down some "criminals" that were terrorizing a nearby museum that one time also!
Yet, the zoanthrope somehow managed to get the time and day to appreciate the peace in this world that he sought for.
It was getting dark out now, despite the early hours of the evening arriving. Autumn days like this one flew by as fast as the leaves from the trees. The sun rose and set as if on fast-forward, hurrying to meet the eventual winter. Though the sun was still bright, still brilliant in the sky, it was cooler- even on the days that lack any clouds. The clouds weren't too threatening this day, just a little grey, and the wind was starting to feel more like the blast one received from opening the refrigerator door than the summer breeze Chai had been used to these past few months. Autumn was coming fast... Wait, Chai arrived here in the fall, right? Had it really been a year since Guardia and he came already? Almost a year, at least.
Guardia was now sleeping in his sheath, softly snoring and rolling over every now and then. Truly an expert at avoiding things as well- in light of recent events and concerns, Chai had decided to go pay his tenative friend, this world's Bing, a quick visit. Sure, if this was his world's Serpent Master Chai would probably scream like a pansy and faint on the spot, but this Bing and Chai seemed to resonate with similar kindness and values- the goat could appreciate that much. At least he really seemed to find happiness in this universe also, unlike his predicament back home. Guardia still wasn't a fan of him, despite Chai's best efforts.
Chai recalled never going into too much detail with many people about his world, he didn't even tell Bing much besides the whole "the goodies are evil" thing back home. The magnitude of their malevolence and whatnot were things he left off the plate at the time... His expression twisted with discomfort, still unsure if he wanted to talk about it and go back to those days. Guardia wasn't the only one who could masterfully avoid problems. Perhaps those problems would bite back someday, but Chai didn't concern himself with it in the present.
After a continued walk where the goat slipped into his thoughts, the zoanthrope came to a stop in front of the Serpent Dojo. Last time he came here, he tried to get some training, but got knocked out on the fly. The zoanthrope let his ki flare momentarily- he was at least twice as strong as before, but even this strength wasn't much. 'Alright, Chai... Just a talk since you're in the neighborhood. Maybe some training also if it's a good time.' Chai coached himself, tentatively raising his balled palm to the door.
Guardia stirred in his sheath, coming to soon after the goat approached the doors. He raised his brow, catching eye of his partner's hesitance... He rolled his eye, clearing a nonexistant throat, promptly calling out very rudely and very loudly before Chai could even get a single polite knock in. 'HEY DINGUS OPEN THE FUCK UP IT'S THE GOATBRO AND SWORDUDE CHAI CAME TO SAY HI YOU SHOULD TOTALLY TRAIN HIM AND STOP BEING A LAZY DWEEB AND--' "Guardia, NO!" A flustered Chai shoved Guardia back into his sheath.'GUARDIA YES' Was the muffled, yet thoroughly pleased and amused response from within the scabbard. "S-SORRY!" The goatman quickly called out to the closed doors, still fighting to keep the now snickering sentient blade in containment.
OOC NOTES: shoopedoop time to train and maybe get a spankin' new form

The Serpent Master sat quietly in his personal room of the Dojo, his eyes shut tight as his thoughts swirled. Today was a special day for him. Not because of some victory he'd had years ago, or because he'd won something. No, today was different. Today was his father's birthday. He'd be 57 today, were he still alive. Smoke rose from a small clump of incense burning on the table in front of him, and one of Tang's favorite desserts, tiramisu, sat in a small plate next to a picture of him. A small candle flickered atop the cake, and after a moment of silence, Bing blew out the candle for his father. He smiled weakly at the photo, before picking up a fork and taking a small chunk of tiramisu into his mouth. The flavor was sweet and bitter all at once, as it usually was. He chewed quickly, and once he was finished, he promptly cleaned the fork, putting it back down next to the plate. "Happy birthday, pop. I hope you're doing alright up there."Before he could indulge any more for his father, he heard a shout from across the way. Something about training, by the sound of it. It was surprising just how close Chai had gotten without being sensed. Bing had been wrapped up in this little celebration that he'd shut out his connection to the outside world for a bit. That was probably a bad thing, judging by how angry the goat's sword sounded. Wiping his mouth quickly, Bing sat up, and jogged across the dojo to the front door. With a quick push, the large double-doors to the dojo swung open. Bing waved to Chai and Guardia from inside, before beckoning them to enter the main hall. "Hey there! I was hoping to see you two again some day. It's been too long. How have you been?"The main hall of the dojo was fairly simple. It was a large square room, made entirely of wood. On the far wall was a large unfurled scroll, bearing the Serpent School's crest, and beneath it on a small table was an intricate blade hilt encased in glass. Curiously, there seemed to be a few sets of Serpent School Gi's stashed beneath the table. There were hallways leading both left and right, but otherwise, this room was empty. "You never picked up your Gi, by the way. It's just there, under the table. Try it on, and maybe we can start that training you were yelling about."

By the time Chai finally managed to get Guardia to stay put in his scabbard, lo and behold, the Serpent Master himself was quick to greet the two of them. Chai was thankful he wasn't visibly mad about Guardia's outburst, at least. "Oh, howdy!" Chai greeted back, before glancing aside briefly in response to the age old question of "what is up." "Life's been busy- But pretty good! Army work and all is rough lately." Chai put a hand on his chin, narrowing his eyes at nothing in particular while his thoughts deepened. "I hope Vi's doing good also..." He murmured in a hushed tone to himself before shaking his head, gaze turned back to his friend. "But hey, I haven't heard from you in ages! Have you been doing well?" Chai returned the question with a smile before strolling inside the dojo. Guardia rolled his eye, still unsure about this whole escapade.
'Busy is an understatement.' Guardia remarked in then heads of the two fighters with a bored tone. The sword's eyelid drooped while his narrowed gaze drifted off. 'We've prevented a museum thing and a buncha artifacts from going kerpow, probably saved the Highlands from being destroyed, made the Bamboo Woods not go boom, AND for the most part single-handedly held down the KAOS fort while Vi was doing his do on... Vegeta, was it? Yeah, 'Geetz...' The sword listed off each of their escapades on his nonexistant fingers. Straightening his posture from within his sheath, Guardia would direct his eye to Chai. 'But I, for one, feel the need for at least, I don't know, a LITTLE promotion?' The zoan blinked in confusion, tilting his head. "Dude, we don't really need one right now. We have enough zeni and things for you." The spoiled sword just groaned. 'That's besides my point, Chai.'
After a calmed Guardia's brief exchange with Chai, Bing directed the goat to his Serpent Dogi, which rested beneath a table set to the side. 'It's about time, geez.' Guardia narrowed his eye again at the Serpent Master, which was met with a brief flick to the eye from the goat to keep the blade in line. Grumbling to himself, the blade figured he had no choice but to be nice to his worst enemy... 'Oh, this time? Maybe don't knock my partner out after a few split seconds. You've done that like twice already.' Hopping out of his sheath while the goatman huffed in mild frustration in response to the sword's shade, green dogi now in hand. "I'm gonna, uh, go change real fast." After speaking to Bing, he narrowed his gaze at the sentient sword. "Now Guardia, behave- I'll be taking away your Baotendo Swap if I get a complaint."
'WHAT?!?!'
"For a week." 'CHAI FOR THE LOVE OF BEELZEBUB BELOW I WILL--'
"Make that two weeks. Do I hear three?" Guardia resumed grumbling and cursing in the demon tongue while the zoanthrope excused himself to go change clothes in another room. It was hard keeping so many sick burns and shade tosses inside... Perhaps after several moments of awkward silence between the human and demon passed, Guardia would briefly comment after making sure Chai was out of earshot-- 'Soooo...' Guardia trailed off, hiding his disdain poorly. '...Fun fact, friend. Back in our universe, you kinda-sorta-maybe are responsible for the "deaths" of most of Chai's friends.' He remarked callously, making quotation marks with his crossguards at the mention of the word "death"- as most of the Strikers back home suffered a fate far worse. 'And yes- I'm still VERY miffed about that.' Guardia decided to justify his own pent-up aggression- Chai couldn't ban him from his Swap for being nothing but honest, right?

Bing nodded happily. It was good to hear Chai was out there fighting the good fight, and under Vi-Poi no less! As much as he wanted to talk about his android buddy, that situation was still a little sore. He wasn't sure if the old droid still considered him a friend anyways.
"Yeah... I hope he's good too..."
There was a small, awkward silence, which was quickly cut into by the magic sword on Chai's back. Bing listened intently, a slight smile forming as Guardia explained their escapades. It sounded like the kind of stuff Bing used to get dragged into. It was a good thing the young goat was getting experience, though. If what the universe-hopper had said was true, then he'd need every ounce of strength he needed when he finally went home.
As Chai moved to pick up his Gi, the sword on his back took a moment to chastise Bing for his harsh fighting, causing the Serpent Master to frown. He rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling awkwardly. "Yeah, maybe I overdid it a little..."
Chai and his weapon bickered a moment, before the zoan hurried off to a changing room. There was an awkward silence while the animal-shaped fighter was gone, but Guardia quickly cut through the pause with some harsh words. It hurt his ears to hear what the sword said. Could he really be so vicious in that other dimension? It was a harrowing thought, and it brought back wounding memories of his cyborgification.
Bing frowned deeply, looking away from the blade as he replied. "I... I'm so sorry. I know I'm not really the same person, but I'll try to make up for it somehow."
There was another silence, and Bing's mind wandered. He wondered if there was some way to learn more about this mirror of himself. Maybe if he could decipher some clues, he'd be able to help strategize against himself for Chai's return.
"Hey, I know this is a weird question to ask, but... How much do you know about this other Bing's past? If you knew him well, it could help us think of a good way to beat him."
