Another Cbox conversation ensued where it wasn't clear what exactly Stun Variants are good for over a normal attack, with some saying that staff has told them that taking enough damaged to be wounded will cause you to drop a charge and thus Stun variant attacks are relatively useless, to others saying that staff told them you can tank any amount of damage that doesn't knock you out of the fight and continue charging, and thus a Stun variant has use by causing someone to drop a charge and get hit together whereas a normal attack would not do so.
So. I just wanted to put this up so that staff could put the issue to bed and give a united answer on the above which can be summed up in two questions.
1. Do you drop a charge if damaged by a normal technique (N1/UP2/MP3)? 2. If you do drop a charge when damaged, what is the benefit of using a Stunning variant over a normal technique?

Answer to 1. No, you only drop the charge if the attack is big enough to do serious harm/KO/kill you.
There are plenty of canon examples of people eating damage while charging, prolly most famously Goku against Ginyu.
So Stuns are definitely worthwhile. Also, they interrupt instantly.
