Nabel couldn't help but grin, upon feeling the woman's energy flare up to match his. He was no doubt still weaker than her full blast, but Ninjin Nedrag seemed to be actively pursuing a fair match, which only further delighted the boy. The Veteran martial artist was truly trying to challenge both herself and her newfound fan. The demon felt a weird sense of honor and fulfillment, as Ninjin dropped her casual demeanor in favor of a more muted expression.
To the boy, this was a massive mark of respect from the older fighter, one that he felt wasn't entirely deserved, nor was he even ready to bear it yet. The freaking Turtle Hermit (and in the boy's eyes, she still bore the title, despite having passed it down awhile back) was taking their spar seriously. If his old master had known that Nabel would ever luck out in such a big way, then he may have chosen to better preserve his own health. Shaking off those old regrets, the boy instead focused on the flurry of punches headed his way.
Figuring that the woman was trying to catch him unawares, perhaps even attempting to block the view of his only remaining eye, he attempted to duck downwards with a slight burst of speed, hoping to slip the rapid-fire fists. If he succeeded, he would immediately drive both of his legs forwards. A dropkick at this distance would prove risky, but if he could knock Ninjin off balance, then he might actually be able to put up a good fight despite their gap in skill and experience. OOC: Sounds good then!

The duck downwards was slightly expected from Ninjin as she had to adjust herself to keep her guard up as her combination of punches thrown was disrupted. She was not expecting him to try and perform a dropkick at this range so the rapid movement caught her a little off guard. Her left arm lowering out of instinct caught a portion of the double footed kick, but she brought her right hand down to hold onto the leg as it made its impact against her. So instead of flying away she used the kick’s momentum to flip herself into the air and over Nabel back to a neutral base about ten yards from him. “Nice improvisation. My turn.”
Speaking her little taunt she would move once more. This time she would begin to move about the demon in a rapid motion randomly appearing and disappearing all around him. Seeing as she noticed that he had learned how to accommodate the missing eye she knew now that that was not a weakness but a strength for Nabel she would not be trying to aim for that. This time she would plant her feet and burst in with quick strikes from multiple angles. She was trying to see just how he would be able to stop her attacks like the turtle’s shell she would find the weak spot them exploit it.
{Sorry for the shortness but fights tend to be rather to the point for me. }}

OOC: I don't mind at all! The surprise dropkick had been more successful than Nabel had expected it to be, yet it still proved to be of little effect in the grand scheme of things. Though the demon had managed to catch Ninjin off-guard and clip her very slightly, the woman was far craftier than the boy was. She not only accepted the hit gracefully, the former Turtle Hermit had used it to her advantage, using the dropkick's momentum to gain some much needed distance between the two of them. And with the lad's short reach, minuscule height and missing parts, this would be a hard position to come back from.
Even regular fighters could catch Nabel blindsided by this strategy, so it gave the boy a tiny thing to fear as he watched his much more experienced cart off with a net gain from that exchange. Still, he wouldn't let that get to him too badly. Even if he didn't have the higher ground, as Ninjin charged forwards and began to prod at the boy's defense, the demon still put up a heck of a fight as he maneuvered backwards with each hit. With the woman throwing out rapid, unanswered strikes at ever possible angle, the demon's defense broke down immediately. While he had managed to block and dodge a fairly decent number of attacks, given the physical conditions that put him at odds with the very idea of fighting itself, the boy still left openings to be found.
And for that, he was punished repeatedly. Even though they had similar power levels at the moment, Ninjin had an advantage in both skill and experience, outperforming the boy at every hit. Though he was taking a beating, the boy was at least glad to have been given the opportunity to practice against such a strong opponent. After he had decided that he had taken enough unanswered hits, the boy finally gave in to his more rational instincts, and let out a minor kiai burst. The weak surge of energy would push back at the master martial artist mid-strike.
Even if the act succeeded, Nabel still wasn't sure how he'd last longer against the older fighter. The beating he took was already a big enough indication of their gap in training. One day, perhaps he could match her in a contest of skill. But as of the moment, he was completely outclassed by the Turtle Master. Not that he would stop the spar. No, the boy would keep going until he was forcibly put down. This was a rare learning experience after all, and a dang good one at that.

Ninjin would notice that Nabel was not keeping up despite his impressive power. If she had to guess he was drawing energy from another source so she knew that the source could only extend his strength to a certain point and she would push him to just barely beyond that point with the spar. As she was now beginning to pull the full strength of the punches by the time she was knocked back by his kiai burst. Skidding to a stop near the edge of the ring she would flip back toward the middle with little effort. Landing on her feet she spun herself with her heel dragging across the ground. “Seeing as how you made it this long I will show you the extent of the power that I have within myself. As this match is already over and someone who has at least lasted this long with me deserves that honor at least.”
Moving her stance she brought her right hand up as her left hand balled at her hip. The ki restraining her full strength began to unravel and she would be surrounded by an aura of orchid colored ki. Inhaling deeply she would narrow her eyes as she drew out the memories that had triggered her ascension several years earlier. With a flicker golden Aura Ninjin would feel the power slowly trickle out and then with a clenching of her right fist she would ascend to her Super Saiyan form. “This is the strength of the former Turtle Hermit Nabel… And yet I am far from the strongest on this world. I know several others that make me appear but a small child against a torrent of wind.”
Drawing her hands back around she would get down into her modified Turtle stance once more. The moment Nabel would get into his stance she would move in a flash of golden energy. Her fist coming in but stopping just before his chest right in front of his sternum. “With that I would win. Now prove to me just how strong you will become. Eclipse that power you feel me have now and even grow farther beyond me. Surpass me and become your own master.”
{{PL is at 1,774,542. Ninjin is calling the fight at the moment before impact of her fist as she does not want to injure Nabel with the overwhelming force.}}

The boy had yet to even formulate a proper plan of defense when the match had ended. Barely even allowing himself to process the powerful golden aura that surrounded his adversary, Nabel immediately fell into a fighting stance, but by then it was all over. The woman had pounced upon him between heartbeats. The sheer speed of the attack was a shock to every system, and he quivered in sudden surprise upon realizing how quickly the match had ended.
'N-no way. It can't be. This blinding speed. That shouldn't be possible.' With those little clichéd lines out of the way, the child inhaled, his sternum stinging slightly as it made very light contact with the Turtle Hermit's right fist. The only reason that the demon still stood at all was because Ninjin had the good grace to hold back just before impact. He wasn't sure how many martial artists would have done the same, when in the face of odds as easy as this. The boy realized something, as he slumped down slowly, looking up at the Super Saiyan with a shocked expression.
"You're amazing, Master Nedra- Ninjin." The child spoke with muted awe, as he still came to terms with the loss. Wait, there were others even stronger than the former master? "Some of your peers are even stronger than you?" He tilted his head in disbelief, remembering the power level he'd sensed in the Serpent Master way back when. Bing Gan could definitely rival Ninjin in sheer power, he acknowledged that. With a sigh, he finally fully accepted what had just happened. He could have been knocked out or even killed at any time, and it wouldn't have even been a real fight. This should have been massively discouraging to the returning martial artist. All of his hopes and dreams should have been balanced precariously on plate placed on chopsticks.
But instead, Nabel found himself oddly encouraged by the display. Sure, he was being toyed with, but the woman's bluntness and honesty did wonders to his self-esteem. Even the Turtle Hermit had superiors, people placed upon a pedestal for her to look up to. It quite obvious that she spent each and every day training and bettering herself (perhaps even as hard as every other dedicated fledgling), in order to keep up with both her powerful peers and her own expectations. And as such, Nabel felt proud, despite having lost so utterly. Not in an arrogant way, (if anything, this battle only highlighted the limits of his abilities), but rather, in an inspirational light.
Ninjin Nedrag, former Turtle Hermit and tutor of the current one, wholeheartedly believed that someone like him could one day ascend to her level. She did not view him as an inferior fighter, who she could have trounced without breaking a sweat at anytime. No, she had seen the boy as another martial artist, struggling valiantly to improve and gain some sort of relevance in the increasingly crowded scene. It wasn't just blind encouragement. She saw potential in Nabel, something that he wouldn't have acknowledged otherwise. So with shaky steps, he picked himself up the ground, a wide-eyed look pointed straight at Ninjin.
"Okay- it's a promise then. Scout's honor." He stuttered, but spoke with renewed conviction, as he flashed the woman a boy scout's salute once more. He was clearly affected by the Turtle Hermit's words. "I'll make my own breakthrough one day- I'll train my butt off until I get stronger too!" The boy nodded, pumping an excited fist into the air just after backing off ever so slightly. That Golden Aura still terrified him. He had seen it once before, but it was so much more imposing without allies to take the brunt of the damage. "And when we face off again, I hope that I don't disappoint you." OOC: Nabel concedes the fight! Should we wrap up in a few posts?

“I am not amazing Nabel. I am just who I am. I am a normal woman who fights and trains to protect her family. It is why I keep going every day, bettering myself while my children rest or train on their own or with their babysitter.” The swirling aura would dissapate as she saw him move a little back from her and speak up about how there are many who are stronger than her. Nodding she smiled at him.
“My husband Toma is barely stronger than I am for one. I know that both the current and previous Kami are stronger than I am…. My distant cousin is also stronger but shes vanished as of late. There are a few more I know but one is dead and one has vanished.” Speaking up her mind would flash of all the people she had been around that had grown greater than her. Reikiko, Vipoi, Kaula, and others caught her minds eye and stayed for a few brief moments as she let the golden hair stick around on her form. Yet despite the fact it seemed that the fact she was never in any danger and yet he was so effortlessly defeated hit him it seemed he did not seem it to large of a defeat.
The golden hair would shine as she moved a little and smiled at him. “Excellent to hear. I will hold you to that promise Nabel. Whenever you feel that you you have surpassed me. I will gladly fight you again seriously upon that day. Until then if you ever want a partner in sparring I will be honored to help you.” Ninjin would return the salute back to him as she inhaled and then exhaled as the golden aura dispelled around herself and back into the air around her.
“Trust me when I say this and know this is the greatest honor someone like me can do. I want all those that I have trained to become greater than me. I want to see them take what I taught them to new heights and in new ways that I never saw or could’ve dreamed of. So the day you pass me no matter what I say that day I will not be upset. Instead I would be honored.” Her words kind but truthful as in the bottom of her heart she did believe that especially with Articho. He was a source of massive pride for her even though she always pushed against him and questioned him. For her it was more to make certain he stayed honest than anything else.

OOC: So this seems like a good stopping point for the interaction. Maybe we could end with them just about to spar again? And just have that continue into the off-screen zone. I've had a lot of fun with this thread so far, it's really developed aspects of Nabel that I hadn't considered much before. Nabel simply stood there for several seconds, mouth agape as he nodded cautiously, his head still slowly wrapping itself around what the woman had said. It wasn't just the motherly warrior's humility and conduct this time, though it still continued to impress the lad. Instead, it was Ninjin's short spiel that caught him off guard. While what was said should not have been surprising to hear given her former position, all of it certainly struck a chord with the boy. It wasn't very often that he bore witness to such genuinely bright and hopeful words.
To feel honored on the day that your pupils surpass you. The lad's lips pursed at this sentiment, the stitches at its sides helping to form a small cat's mouth. There was an underlying sadness to that statement, one which wracked the boy's mind as he played it out again and again, but the Turtle Hermit didn't seem to mind it much. The younger fighter paused for a few more moments, as he looked up at the woman's kindly expression, analyzing her convictions. But it was silly to try doing so, because within seconds, he could already tell how sincerely proud Ninjin Nedrag was of her former students, though she didn't call them out directly.
Nabel couldn't help but beam as well, even if he couldn't imagine how he would feel in this situation. A little voice in his head pointed something out, however. This philosophy was necessary for anyone aspiring to start their own school. True masters of the martial arts, the ones whose lives were worth much, much more than the names of their dojos, or the marketability of their techniques, surely carried a similar thought process. Why would anyone want to teach and reach out towards the next generation, if they didn't aim to pass the torch at some point? To see each of your students succeed in their own little way, even if it means them growing beyond the need for your teachings, that had to be a heart-warming moment for these masters.
And for all of his walk and talk of wanting to one day become a master himself, Nabel had never considered this aspect of becoming a school's shifu. That made him realize just how much more he really needed to grow, both as a person, and as a fighter. He was glad that he was nowhere near his goals yet, as odd as it was to say. Because if he became a teacher now, he doubted that he could truly bring out the best in his students. So with a sigh of realization, he gave the woman a grateful smile. It was the least he could do in return for everything that the Turtle Hermit had helped him realize.
"You've taught me so much today, Mas- Ninjin." He spoke earnestly, as he stretched around a little. His joints still ached slightly from their earlier spar, but he didn't seem to mind. He liked that feeling, as weird as it was to say out loud. "And I don't even think that you meant to be as helpful as you've been. You just are." He chuckled, though it wasn't from amusement. Rather, it seem to stem from enthusiastic glee, as his tone still dripped of reverence. "Thank you. For everything." His single eye sparkled as he said this, as he looked to be in a state of absolute awe.
Though that didn't stop him from slowly calming down, and speaking in a respectful (enough) manner. "So I hope you don't mind when I ask this, but-" He paused for a moment, before finishing up his stretches with a few pops and cracks, and continuing to speak. "- could you continue to teach me? At least for whatever's left of this day?" He asked, just before falling into a fighting stance once more. The remaining hours would just fly by if she accepted.

“I only taught you things that you already knew Nabel. Deep down you knew each and every single one of these lessons already. All I did was point them out to you. Show you the path that I have walked and have helped others walk down before their own paths diverged and went on their own way from mine.” As she spoke she would release the golden aura that had swirled about her and returned to her normal state. The fact that she did not really need to showcase that power and instead only wanted it to show him just what was out there ahead of him made it the real lesson from today.
For Ninjin she always thought that the strongest people in the world would only ever come from Earth before she became really aware of the galactic world. Since then she has done nothing but watch the multitude of fighters come and go. Grow stronger then fade into obscurity and yet she stayed on the course she had laid out in front of herself. Ninjin would walk the planet and would do nothing but try and make others better and push others to become who they were destined to be. “Nabel you do need to say thank you to me. In reality I should be thanking you. Thanking you for coming here and reinvigorating my own drive as to why I do these things. I always have wondered if I was truly up for teaching after I had to leave to begin raising my children. Yet today you have shown me… that a title is meaningless. All I need is my words and my actions. I can train others with them. Spur them on and push them to the heights they deserve to achieve even without having all these fancy techniques or other things to teach anyone…”
Her words where calm and simple to a fault. As Ninjin was now going to be living through this style of life. Watching him stretch and hearing his words she would smile and move back a few feet. Watching him slip into his own stance Ninjin would mirror hers from earlier perfectly and smile widely at him. “I would be honored to do that. I will gladly train with you until you do not wish to continue. Let us both get stronger by Kami’s will.”
With that spoken Ninjin would burst toward him and the spar would continue.
{{Was a fun thread. Made me actually have to finally develop this side of Ninjin for the first time in a very long time Nabel. I will take PL with the Med Weights for the thread. Til next time.))
