Into the Wild Blue Yonder [Corset] [INVITE]

Chai had heard there was some sort of electromagnetic disturbance at Baozi Lake, but he couldn't imagine why the Blue Banner Army would send Guardia and himself, of all people. The mission was admittably small, though the known information about the lake's predicament was sparse. It seemed a little much to send one of the strongest KAOS members and his partner to the scene, and Chai really didn't want to miss out on getting his hands on the new Majin Kart, which released the very next day.

The midday light of the sun was eclipsed by the gathering clouds, letting loose torrents of swarming snow. Chai raised an arm, trying to keep the bitter bites of the wind out his his one remaining eye. If it weren't for his furry coat and thicker garbs, Chai would most certainly have frozen to death already. Guardia trudged along beside his partner. Cold was no trouble for an inanimate object without nerves. Still, something about this was horribly off. For one, wasn't it supposed to be summer here in the usually warm, eastern Spinach Wastes? Snow at this time of the year, especially with this two foot deep blanket beneath Chai's legs was most off-putting. Guardia hopped up the hill he and Chai were climbing up, promptly stopping at the top.

'...Welp, I don't think that should be there.' The blade remarked bluntly, eye narrowed. His fellow one-eyed partner quickly took pursuit, letting loose a shallow gasp when he caught eye of what was supposed to be Baozi Lake. "...Okay, what." The water had surrendered it's blue to the storm, coated in a thick layer of ice with snow piling like bodies atop it. But, what was most strange was the massive ice construct soaring from the central lakebed. It was as if a water droplet crashed into the lake, and the splash froze... That, but a bajillion times bigger, at least. The crystal palace looked like something straight out of a fantasy novel. It's spires scraped the stormclouds above, glistening in the sparse rays of sun that managed to slither through the thick vapor above the duo. Glancing to the side, Chai would eye some strange, glowing plants with small blue berries. Plants weren't usually supposed to glow either, right? But still, the giant magic ice fortress in the center of the lake took priority over the odd foliage. "So, uh... I assume the plan is to go in there?"

Chai hesitantly asked. He didn't WANT to enter the looming, probably evil ice castle thing, per say, but did he really have a say in this? 'Yyyyup. What else?' Guardia retorted, putting his crossguards where his hips would be, if he still had them. The goat could only sigh in aggrivation. 'Oh, come on. It certainly piques your curiosity too, right?' The blade had a point. A wintry crystal castle, in the middle of the farming plains, in the midst of the summer heat... It was strange. Chai wanted to know more. "You have a point, partner."

"Orders are orders. So let's be in and out, and find out what's making all this snow." Chai ordered, gesturing a hand to the palace. Guardia nodded nonetheless, but before he could respond, Chai's head would jolt around when his senses piqued. Another energy was nearby... But who would come out here besides them in this dangerous weather?
