The prophet's thin green fingers clutched the stone ball firmly, lifting it up and hoisting it under his arm. His countenance settling into a grim neutral, Helix Crust evaporated into an ephemeral wisp of wind before reappearing right below the tall tower that constituted the namekian lookout.
Quickly, a few hardy looking warriors and two large bellied dragon caste elders gathered around him, and Helix wordlessly took the arm of one of the warriors, who ascended the side of the tower and landed effortlessly at the top, setting Helix down gently.
Soon, the rest of the members had gathered, and Helix reevaluated his acquaintances silently. There was Helix's anxious but wise friend Ollus from what seemed to be a lifetime ago, and Ollus' close companion Mol, who resembled him greatly. Helix assumed the two to be brothers.
Joining the three dragon castes were two stoic warriors who Helix didn't know the names of, but he had spoken to them briefly with Mol before setting off to acquire a stone dragon ball. It seemed that the fighters were anxious to leave the mystics to their work. "Thank you for your assistance," Helix bowed, giving them a smile of reassurance. Everyone in the village below knew the gravity of the ritual about to take place.
As the two warriors hopped down from the tower, Ollus turned to Helix and softly spoke. "You're certain that just one ball will be enough?"
Helix nodded in response. "Yes, all that is required is one link to the old dragon balls, and after that the magic can be completely dispersed," Helix paused, chewing his lip for a second, "At least, that's what I've come to believe."
Mol chimed in, sensing the slight air of tension. "If more needs to be done we shall do it," the elder noted merrily. "Let us not worry about hypotheticals just yet. There's no rush to complete the ritual."
Helix nodded, and as much as he and the rest of the grand elder village wanted to believe there was no gravity to the situation, the ever looming threat of the Mazoku Lord filled some of the traditionalists with anxiety about even the smallest tasks. The dragon balls were no insignificant footnote, and even a regular ritual involving them would be filled with solemn respect.
"We shall continue then!" Helix put on a smile and quickly paced towards the large pearl palace at the center of the tower, long gone unused by namekians. The door slid open with clockwork efficiency, expressing no emotion at having been neglected for so long.
The three dragon castes quickly entered and surrounded the small white table at the center of the palace. Helix set down the stone ball on the table with a slight heave. Even after his training from Lusca and his battles in Heaven, he still had a lot of physical frailty to his elderly form.
The room was silent for a moment as each of the group took their position at one end of the table. There wasn't a single moment of question of which of the three would perform the ritual.
Grand Elder Nai was the last legitimate guru in the eyes of the traditional dragon castes, and thus Helix was the next heir because of his brotherhood with the people and his connections to Nai.
And so, it would be up to Helix Crust to sever the connection of these dragon balls permanently, causing the other six stone orbs around the planet to shatter into dust. The prophet shook his head, dispelling his nervousness. He was prepared for this position. Lord Nai, Lord Tuner, Porunga himself had all told him he was destined to help namek. And so he would proceed without fear towards the future that needed to come about.
The guru's hand hovered forwards over the stone ball. The prophet extended a single finger outwards. A light flickered to life on his fingertip. Slowly, carefully, and with great intent, Helix lowered his thin digit onto the stone ball; when contact was made, the sphere immediately burst to life. Consumed instantaneously in a flame of white energy, the dragon ball released an explosion of intangible light in a spiraling pillar upwards.
The energy passed through the roof of the palace, soaring up into the infinity of space and serving as a beacon: A new guru was activating the dragon balls.
But Helix was not going to empower the dragon balls with his own mysticism. No, the prophet was determined to eliminate their presence. Under Helix's watch, no offworldly demons would even have the opportunity to touch the sacred artifacts of namek. That mistake would never be made again.
